Aww thanks Keith, that means a lot. Especially as I've been a bit burnt out recently and trying to work out what needs to 'give' - it's great to know that my work here is appreciated. 🙏🌿🌼
That was an interesting and funny read. I love watching the birds, but have never seen a murmuration. It's good to know where they might be hanging out, I've still got a week or two, so I'll keep watching.
A really enjoyable read Melissa, I love a cliffhanger ending! I used to watch the murmurations as a kid in Brighton without thinking they were anything special. But these days I am amazed just by videos of them. On the subject of which, I trust you follow the Brighton photographer, https://substack.com/@finnhopson his stuff is amazing.
A great read Melissa. They are a wondrous sight. Looking forward to part 2 with my morning coffee tomorrow! My mum has starling murmurations regularly over her house. The novelty has well and truly worn off as her car and windows get splattered!
Melissa! The starlings are Calling you and murmurations are their language and this has become mystical and spiritual and extraordinary and now I’m so excited it’s impossible we are not sitting in your kitchen together jumping up to Dance with jubilation.
Enjoyed this - a surprise murmuration must be the best kind of murmuration! We don’t get starlings in our garden but I did manage to write about two starling experiences last year: a murmuration and a character who landed on our lunch table.
There are a few things which even if you are not interested in wildlife give a wow factor when experienced. You have this one covered very well indeed.
I know what happens next but can’t wait for tomorrow part 2!!! Also, I’d forgotten about the target practice those lovely feathered creatures practiced on your arm back then… 🥰
We are fortunate to have these displays too. A wonderful account Melissa.. Regards Keith
Thank you Keith! 🙏🌿
Keep up your great posts,,, you are making a difference, and this matters. Well done Melissa.

Thank you Nicola. I hope you get to see one!
I just saw Melissa, a murmuration from our balcony about thirty minutes before I read this lovely Substack. It’s amazing how they swirl!!!!
Amazing how they came to you too at that special moment.
I look forward to the second part
That’s awesome! I love synchronicity :-) Here’s the link to part two when you are ready:-

I love starlings and actively encourage them to my garden. They are great for getting rid of pests.
Some of our population definitely mimic mobile phone ringtone which is confusing when they are on our roof lol :-)
Ha ha, that’s so funny!
And I hope they can get rid of all my mosquitoes in summer.. 🤞
A great read Melissa.
